Gnome 3 Shell themes

You need the gnome-tweak-tool and the gnome-shell-extension-user-theme

Make the ~/.themes directory:

Code: Select all

mkdir ~/.themes

The themes will be read from ~/.themes/<theme name>/gnome-shell.
Download a theme from here

I warmly can recommend Memento and Mint is good too but Memento has adjusted the giant icons more to my liking.
Unpack them to:

Code: Select all

/home/<you>/.themes
and toggle between them in the gnome-tweak-tool.

It is as easy as that!

gnome-shell-extension-user-theme is not downloading right now. Says it's there, but at the end it's not.

Code here - none of the extensions are downloading or installing right now.

Maybe installing reflektor will brush up your repos?

Nah, I've already run everything that can be run to do that manually. 'sides, I think that's installed. I'm not going back there to find out for sure, sorry (well, maybe I will later on tonight). Still ticked at Gnome 3.

To make the clock show seconds - in a terminal:

Code: Select all

gsettings set org.gnome.shell.clock show-seconds true
This is handy when measuring the time for wallpaper change etc

Just continue with the procedure - you already have it.
