Looks like Mageia does not digest that particular driver.
I have heard that they will upgrade the kernel soon, so maybe then....

Sure looks like it. I've looked everywhere for a solution via google, and it just ain't a-happenin'.
If I have to wait for a kernel upgrade, then I'm going to have to dual-boot with Windows, install Cygwin, download all the updates, install them to Mageia, and gods help me all over again.
I'd go to the Mageia forum, but as helpful as they were on the last wireless issue, I think I'll not, OR I may just file another bug. The bugmeisters will love that - "Here we go AGAIN, and Backlund's not 'round this time!"
Jim? You anywhere around? Thanks.

Sorry, I have no experience of wireless. I believe that some people have had success using Network Manager instead of the Mageia tools, but that's the extent of what I know.

Yeah, I have them both and have tried them both. Thanks anyway.
*sigh
I guess I'm going to have to wait on the new kernel again.

I'm sorry to dredge this one up, but I'm wondering if Fedora might be a better choice? Remember that great dual-boot I had with it and Arch some years back? Would Fedora find it, y'think?

I do think so... and Fedrora has become a user friendly and good distro lately.

Aye. It was even then, when I was on 12 & 13.

I'm working on this again. Made sure the wireless was enabled in bios, and it is now amber light on it 100% of the time.
And, I've reformatted, nothing sees the wireless component (of course). Just the wired.

What does
say?
or maybe
(if you use NetworkManager)

Used to have wireless issues on Mageia 5, with 6 so far so good.
Try to upgrade to Mageia 6

I think R_head *may* have got it, but I did some playing around last night.
I ran "rfkill unblock all" as root, and found something. In the list, it came out:
0: - the wireless
1: - the gps
Ssooo... I hit 0, and it unblocked the wireless! The light was still amber BUT, MCC saw it, and when I clicked up Hardware in MCC, up came a dialog box that told me what else I needed to install for the wireless. I then extracted the 5.1 cd to my /home/me/Downloads folder, and installed the rest of what it asked for.
Then, I uninstalled gnome-keyring, which was giving me issues anyway, and let it take the 14 proggies it wanted to with it. I then got rid of net_applet, and installed network manager. Network manager does see the wireless, it just can't find the connection. I tried inputting it manually to no avail yet.
According to the wiki, I need the nonfree kernel-firmware, but I think that is installed (will double-check tonight late after work).
Another issue, is the rfkill unblock all trick is not lasting across reboots.
There is also a dmesg error, saying I need the right driver and where to get it, so I will follow that asap.
R-head, that will entail a library trip but NBD on that. I will however not upgrade. I'll do a reinstall, keeping /home.

I now see (since I hadn't before) what a bitch Broadcom is with Linux.
Viking, I'll have your outputs tonight as well.
