Well, along came an update yesterday to mageia-xfce-config, with a bit of "advice" after the updates (I use urpmi on da cli, I don't touch the gui [MCC] for much unless I need it for something explicitly). That "advice" went as so:
Code: Select all
----------------------------------------------------------------------
More information on package mageia-xfce-config-3-2.2.mga3.noarch
Xfce doesn't update its configuration files in user's home dir by itself.
(Lookie here) --->Please remove these directories manually in your home, after updating
mageia-xfce-config and then restart your X session.
~/.config/xfce4
~/.config/Thunar<---
Do NOT to forget about first backing up those directories. So, for once, I decide to be a good little girl. Renamed those two folders, and rebooted. I came back up into XFCE, tried to re-set up my desktop as I'd had it, and guess what? The background I'd specifically chosen was no longer there, and neither were others that I would use. The new ones are butt-ugly, IMO. Here's what I had:
Anyone know where the hell I can find that background now? They should've left the old along with the new, IMO - speific distro devels don't think about these things. They just throw in the update as-is, and don't think about the fact that they can modify it to suit all user's needs.
I'm hoping Manjaro has it. Things like this are really starting to tick me off in Mageia. IMO it is a great distro, but it's limited in several ways, and those limitations are getting to me. I know it's because they're young yet, but I'm getting to where "young yet" doesn't suit my needs.
I'm going to have a look at http://xfce-look.org/ to see if it's there, but if anyone knows where I can find it right off, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks.
