Firefox 4 Delayed, Will be Released in Early 2011

Mozila will not be releasing Firefox 4 in november as originally planned, instead it will be released early next year.

Mozilla originally planned to release Firefox 4.0 in November, but it is now clear that version 4 will be delayed. The Release Candidate will be released in early 2011, and the final version shortly after that, according to Mozilla Wiki.

"Firefox 4 will be the last major browser release from Mozilla, as it looks to mimic Chrome's speedy release schedule — echoing previous statements that Firefox 7 would arrive this year. "What we want to do is get the power into users' hands more quickly," said vice president of products Jay Sullivan. "For example, the video tag was shippable in June — we should have shipped it." That new schedule is also why Firefox 4 has had 12 betas, he said. Mozilla also said future versions of Firefox would feature a stronger "do not follow tool", as the current one is a "non-technical solution"," Sullivan said. "All you're doing is raising your hand and saying 'I don't want to be tracked.' There's no technical teeth.""

"Firefox 4 will be the last major browser release from Mozilla" - hhmmm. Must figure out what's going on here. Looks to be a bunch of spying on us from FF4 on to me, according to one of those links.

Edit: What I'm not getting here, is that they're saying they want to implement the "do not follow" tool, yet they themselves follow in the vein of wanting to be another Chrome? Seems contradictory to themselves to me. I get they want to do the "rolling release" deal, but it's the rest that I'm not digging.

Okay then, Why is FF 5.0 Beta 1 out?

And why is 5.0 Beta 2 here?

Do they know what they're doing? Do they know they're not supposed to release anything above 4? lol

There might be the slight case of loosing the overview and chaos. Many people promise to love and honor each other until death do them part - and they mean it! 5 years later they are divorced of course - and they mean that too . Life happens.
