:-D Yes compiz is working in fallback. And I have to admit; you are the ayatholla of Compiz :B I just have gotten used to Gnome3-shell because it is rather efficient.
It gets the work done, once you figure it out. Even in Fallback you will not be able to right click on the top panel and move it too the bottom. That is loss of flexibility and even if the Gnome devs think I don't need it - I still want it.
(As I have stated before; I want to tell my favorite idiot that it is Win8  )
But it is purty :bowlol Image
I just did a

Code: Select all

 emerald --replace
in Arch and I have it working here too. Places do open in Dolphin so I tried to turn off KDE compatibility in the Compiz settings and loged out and back in - that did the trick. :greetings

The cylinder does not work here either.

Places menu - but it does it even when I don't have compiz running, and with no Gnome-shell running either... :(

Also, I have KDE compatability turned off in CCSM... just cranked up compiz, and it still opens Places in Konqueror... :(

Hmm. What is your default Desktop (session) in ~/.xinitrc and /etc/slim.conf? Do you load Kde first?

That's a leftover from Gnome2 - something I had to do temporarily to get screensavers to work & shut power manager up with. It has no bearing now, and is being ignored by Gnome 3. Just haven't been arsed to remove it.

Okay, so, I switched the window theme in gnome tweak tool to my favorite "Esco", which gave me blue title bars:

I'm wondering if there's a file I can hack from there to get it to turn green to match my icons (gnome-wise).

Damit I am not going through all that again without you doing any of it. After a real detailed description you simply come up with a new question for something else (you probably won't do that either). :wall:
But since I have a heart of gold: Install gnome-shell-extension-user-theme and see what you can do with it (Gnome3-shell).

Excuse me? I did too do it!

What I'm trying to do is figure a way to have the titlebars the way we want them without having to have gnome-shell (since starting it on login doesn't like my hardware)!

Oh sorry I assumed due to the lack of a pic that you hadn't done it. So did you nail it in Gnome3-shell?
The title bars in fallback should be customizable like in the good 'ol days.
