Wanted to point out a glitch here. ^^ My last post before this one.

I had a post about root being stuffed up in Fedora. Had code, the works. Had edited it even, and found it still there.

It disappeared.

I know PHPbb doesn't allow blank posts, so you know I didn't post a blank post deliberately. IF you hit "Edit" or "Quote" on that blank post, you'll see that everything I put there is still there. I tried to click "Submit" on it again to see if it would show, and it didn't.

My PHPbb code is correct, so I have no clue what the deal is. I've backed the post up, phpbb code and all, into gedit now.

I don't know what happened there. Might be some code that does not digest well.

Okay, am at my daughter's now. When I get home, I'll try splitting it up into two posts, and see what happens.

I checked the database - and guess what: The post was too long! I just cut out several pages of code that you had pasted in there and now it is visible.
What on earth were you thinking of?
FYI The maximum length of a post is 6000 signs. I think that is enough.

Okay, you're due apologies then. I didn't know the limit. I'm sorry.

have not informed about it. I thought no one would ever reach the limit.

I don't understand how the statement can be made after some days of testing but nevertheless...

So now that the Alpha release for Fedora 15 has been declared gold, all the features are in, only polish and bug fixing are to be applied until final, is the time for previews are reviews, it was also the time for me to look at the new default desktop and understand what is coming. The executive summary of my review is: from a desktop point of view, this is a release to skip, and I am not talking about the Alpha, but about F15 altogether.

More at [p]review: Fedora 15 + GNOME 3.0, a skippable release

Also, they've got my issue with F14 nailed right here (even though it's nvidia here), although I don't agree it's a Linux problem, as it doesn't seem to be happening with other distros.

Well, well, well. It seems I'm in with the nvidia driver, and I would do this on every nvidia update, were I to keep it on this machine. Got a hairbrained idea, and it worked. I went in and cleared out every single nvidia_drv.so first in /usr/lib/xorg/modules, to include any that might be in the sub-folders there. I then installed the latest nvidia drivers, and it worked.

Now on to try to figure out why numlock won't come on at the login screen, even with the Numlock tip posted here, and putting numlockx into ~/.xinitrc. I noticed they have a bug on kdm on that.
I also want to see if I can get tor going on it.

After that, it's gone. It will be time to move on to this project finally, which I haven't been able to due to family emergency over the last couple of weeks.

Have fun.

Interesting note here. My Fedora box is actually a tad more stable than my Arch one, since I got the nvidia driver going. Not by much, but by a tad. In Arch, not sure how I can explain it, but it doesn't seem to be handling the hdd very well. Y'know how Windows gets when it badly needs to be scandisked and defragged? That's how the Arch drive is sounding and acting...
