For some reason, the "Like" button for Facebook isn't working on your pics at bildr.no. I click it, and it does nothing. I had to comment on it to give it a like, and that like I had to do manually when the comment came up on my wall (and I do like it very much).

Thanks
I'll upload it to our wallpaper section here so you and anyone who likes it can use it. I think I will call it Norwegian_autumn

Be jealous.
Still some things to go; gkrellm, compiz and compiz plugins, themes to install, all kinds of stuff, but be jealous anyway. I iz on Gnome2, and that's where I'm staying.

Re: What does your desktop look like?
Looks like I have to sign in to see it
Edit:
Correction on second attempt it worked. Looks good but Gnome 2 will disappear in a year or two on Centos too... But you will have good ol' Gnome in the meantime. I have found Openbox to be good and flexible so I am using that instead.

Actually it could be as long as eight years:

That's what I thought. Thanks, Jim. Good find.
I'm perfectly happy with that, and even then gnome 3 can be blocked.
The people who still support Gnome 2 (and CentOS is the only one so far I've found) are no fools. They know who in the end will butter their bread. The people who still want Gnome 2 will have a distro to go for a good long time. I'm foreseeing a lot of people flocking to it. Gnome 3 just plain sucks. You see it everywhere. Haven't seen anyone who honestly likes it yet (except for maybe a handful of Gnome fanbois).

Starting with CentOS 5 each version is supported for 10 years (by means of security updates, --->previous versions for 7 years).

Re: What does your desktop look like?
Well, not much to write home about. You'll probably recognize the wallpaper from a previous post. CentOS 6.2 just plain sucks for multimedia. There's no Amarok, no Clementine, no XMMS, no Xine player, and I was damn lucky to find VLC rpm(s). So, I kind of decided to go back to my XMMS roots (always did love it for no reason really, loved it for years), with Audacious for my player for now (it's close enough to XMMS), since Amarok and Clementine both won't compile. Since that, I'm not up for trying to find an rpm for XMMS2 itself (I've had to search for a lot of rpms for this thing), or for compiling it (is there even a file anywhere to compile any more?). I still have to sort out compiz here on the netbook someday when there's time... yup, it's on the "to do" list. Still, I don't think Audacious to be bad at all these days. It's grown somewhat, and it's got some things now that I like having that it didn't have in the past, such as MTP upload for my mp3 player, lyrics, album art, and a helluva sound (which I'd forgotten about). Gnome 2.28, editable panels, editable everything, as the good ol' Gnome 2 always had. Arrochar, Scotland wallpaper (pic taken by a friend), Gnome Noble icons, fully functional and tight (which is just how I like it, to make it functional my way and not theirs):

Just let me get to upgrade to CentOS 6.3 (again, time factor), or get some time to try Mageia or OpenSuSe, using dd for the installation dvd, and then things will really get going (probably CentOS 6.3 for Gnome2, since I seriously despise Gnome3).
I think the thing that does suck about CentOS though, is that it's supposed to make a good server, and it probably does, but it depends the kind of server one wants. Me, I want a music one, and without any decent multimedia apps, it ain't a-gonna happen.
Edited for image url change.

Re: What does your desktop look like?
Looks like a good window manager for a netbook with tidy little feature-filled panels.

Re: What does your desktop look like?
Yep, and that ^^ is what Open Source is all about. If I want to fill up my panels with crap I need, or if I want to fill up a dock with it, or if I want to spread icons all over my desktop, or if I want to make something look like total Mac sh!t but functional for me, I can, with Gnome 2. This is where I think Gnome 3 has busted the GPL to h#ll and back. They have the "they do it for you" attitude with complete ugliness, whereas I have something that I have the freedom to make as functional, ugly, pretty, dysfunctional, crap, whatever I want, with no b.s. Try Gnome 3 sometime. You'll hate it. I know very few who don't.
I'll also say that if that is where Linux is headed with the desktop, then I'll do without a desktop altogether. At some point, they'll screw EvilWM, OpenBox, etc., just like they have Gnome and KDE.
