Just, a copy/paste of that command ought to work. The expected behavior is for rpm to retrieve the header files of a package over the internet and report info (-i) on that package, nothing else will be done or downloaded.
The reason I ask is that I have found rpm to no longer work in 2011/rpm-5 for internet urls and I look for verifications. More complete info is at the bug:
