I don't even remember where the page was. It was ages ago, when I was on Powerpack.

Dear Uber-uber,
Do you (or anybody who reads this) have Mandriva 2011 running anywhere or in VB?

I ask for you to run a command and report output, if you can boot to 2011:

Code: Select all

rpm -vvv -qip
ftp://mirrors.kernel.org/mandrake/Mandrakelinux/official/2011/x86_64/media/main/updates/apache-conf-2.2.21-0.1-mdv2011.0.x86_64.rpm

It doesn't need to be that specific rpm url. Just, a copy/paste of that command ought to work. The expected behavior is for rpm to retrieve the header files of a package over the internet and report info (-i) on that package, nothing else will be done or downloaded.

The reason I ask is that I have found rpm to no longer work in 2011/rpm-5 for internet urls and I look for verifications. More complete info is at the bug:

Going to VB and doing as told.......

Code: Select all

[thomas@localhost ~]$ sudo     rpm -vvv -qip

Last one means no such file or directory or something like that.
That is bad right?
Should we try to get hold of Per Øyvind for this one?

I don't know why but the copy/paste split the command in two. Please, try with this one:

LC_ALL=C rpm -vvv -qip ftp://mirrors.kernel.org/mandrake/Mandrakelinux/official/2011/x86_64/media/main/updates/apache-conf-2.2.21-0.1-mdv2011.0.x86_64.rpm

Also, normal user is fine, sudo not needed. Thanks!

No, that's good! It is exactly the message I get from my two machines. What it means is that rpm-5 is not handling urls correctly. Please look at the bug and, if you agree, vote for it and file your own comment. Paste that terminal output, there, and include what version of rpm:

rpm -q rpm

I don't know why this does not get more buzz. Maybe you could beat the drum at forum.mandriva.com, see if anyone else sees this, link to bug?

Thanks a lot. Here's the bug: https://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=64914

Today Denis Koryavov, lead interface developer at ROSA Labs, announced a new media player for ROSA/Mandriva. ROSA Media Player (ROMP) is a fork of MPlayer and SMPlayer with a sleek design and new features. Today a beta of 1.0 was made available to test and Koryavov says it's stable.

More here.

Also, Mandriva 2011 Powerpack is coming.
