The weather thread

Postby dedanna1029 » 15 Mar 2010, 01:33

Post yer weather here, if it appears that it will be interesting or severe, or, just different. Or, none of those things. lol.

I'm sick and tired of winter, and it ain't over yet! 2:00 this morning, we switched to daylight savings time, and look what's up and coming:

Tomorrow is forecast to be Much Cooler than today.

Now
Areas of low clouds will persist over over northeast and east central New Mexico this evening...while showers and isolated thunderstorms develop over portions of the south central mountains and southeast plains...and track to the northeast and north. Before 8 PM...showers and possibly a storm or two may pass over or near Roswell...Elkins...mesao...Elida...Portales and Fort Sumner. Wind gusts to around 40 mph...and spotty rainfall amounts of up to one quarter inch are possible with the developing showers this evening. The precipitation is expected to build into Curry and Quay counties by 8 PM.

Tonight
Mostly cloudy. Breezy. Scattered showers and thunderstorms in the evening...then rain likely after midnight. Lows in the mid to upper 30s. East winds 15 to 25 mph.

Monday
Breezy. Rain likely. Highs in the upper 30s to mid 40s. Northeast winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to around 35 mph.

Monday Night
Mostly cloudy. Chance of rain in the evening...then chance of snow after midnight. Lows in the upper 20s to lower 30s. North winds 10 to 20 mph in the evening.

It's windy as hell right now rolling that cold front in... earlier today I could at least go outside, but I don't dare now.

I just want it to stop! It's time for Spring!

Still windy as all get-out here, and cold. Man, this bites the big one. :(

Will update more tomorrow.

Vancouver Island is having as good a winter as we could ever hope for. Warm and spring-like. A few days of cool weather or rain then back to mild and sunny.

Welcome to the forum, rtzed! :) Great to have you here! :)

Our weather right now is almost like yours, except for the occassional cold front like we have now... this morning, it's raining.

Okay, I'm totally sick of this crap!

http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/fin ... ct=WEATHER

Winter storm watch in effect from this evening through Saturday afternoon...

Today
Partly cloudy. Breezy. Isolated rain showers in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 50s to lower 60s. North winds 10 to 20 mph increasing to northeast 15 to 25 mph in the afternoon. Gusts up to 35 mph.

Tonight
Breezy. Numerous rain and snow showers in the evening... then snow after midnight. Areas of blowing snow. Snow accumulation 3 to 5 inches. Lows in the 20s. North winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to around 35 mph.

Saturday
Breezy. Partly cloudy with a chance of snow showers. Total snow accumulation 3 to 5 inches. Much colder. Highs in the mid to upper 30s. North winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to around 35 mph.

So, for once we had a decent week, and now the weather-maker in the sky wants to kill it.

That weather-maker can bite me. I really don't need yet another fall on the ice this year (have had three so far).

Well, all I can say now, is this g0d-d@mned house had best cool down in a hurry. It's hot as h#ll in here, and I'm tired - wanna go sleep. Can't with this heat, with no air conditioning.

I HATE THE SOUTH! Only two seasons here... too cold, and too hot!

Rolf, wanna come hook it up for me?

Re: The weather thread - tornado warnings.

Postby dedanna1029 » 26 May 2010, 00:31

Two tornado warnings in one day. It's getting to be that time of year.

http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/fin ... ATHER&MR=1

About the second one:
Statement as of 4:46 PM MDT on May 25, 2010

... Tornado Warning remains in effect for extreme east central Chaves
and south central Roosevelt counties until 530 PM MDT...

At 443 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar continued to
indicate a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado. This
storm was located over extreme east central Chaves County... or about
41 miles south of Portales... moving east at 10 mph.

* Locations impacted include...
Highway 258...
Highway 206...

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

This is a dangerous storm. Leave automobiles and Mobile homes. Move
into an interior room or hallway on the lowest floor. Stay away from
windows and outside walls.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM MDT
Tuesday evening for east central New Mexico.

...still in effect for another couple of minutes.
We're also under a severe thunderstorm warning until 9:00 p.m. MDT.

There's other tornado warnings out in Kansas and other states as well at noaa.gov. This is what it's looking like there. Keep in mind I'm in Portales:

Even though this tornado warning is about to expire, I'm still keeping my eyes open.
