*ERROR* PPS state mismatch in Kernel 4.14

Postby viking60 » 17 Jan 2018, 11:50

If you boot with kernel 4.14 (like I do) then you might get an error message during boot:
*ERROR* PPS state mismatch

This looks bad but is most likely an incorrectly printing of an error message so you can simply wait it out until your Kernel gurus have picked it up.
If you are bored there is a patch that you can implement yourself.

I guess I got lucky, no issues on my part with the new Kernel.

Many distros are not on Kernel 4.14 yet but in any case it is only an annoying message during boot.
You can check your Kernel version with:

Code: Select all

uname -r

In my case the result is
4.14.13-1-MANJARO

Yes You have 4.14.13 so it is the same Kernel.
It comes with the Meltdown patch so your box is probably slower now (and more secure)....and probably they have fixed that annoying error message too.

This seems to be a bug that affects Virtualbox. To make it work again I simply installed Kernel 4.15.
Works fine there.

on OmLx was no error.. but the nfs-server got folders displaying only, and all files had a behave like folders too,
so have see with the 4.14.14-22 kernel only folders (and also the files as folders) on the exports (mounted folders)

best regards
