Pedophile caught by Microsoft

A pedophile has been caught by Microsoft PhotoDNA cloud software.
He had uploaded photos with child pornography to his Google drive and those pictures were discovered by Microsoft (!) who notified the police.

Microsoft do tip off the police all over the world - all the time - so the software giant has become a major factor in law enforcement.

Catching pedophiles, criminals and terrorists is a good thing - everybody is for that.

But what is the price?
(It would be OK to remove the dangerous parts of pedophiles to protect children; that is a noble cause but.. )
Is it OK to have all your photos scanned? Would it be OK if all letters in the post office were opened read and stored in order to prevent crime?
Or is this only OK when the "letter" is handled electronically?

The marketing for more surveillance is always attached to pedophiles, terrorists and heavy criminals.
These groups are used to enhance the acceptance for more surveillance and history has shown that the resulting surveillance is not always precisely targeted to those groups - and not restricted to those groups.

That means that 99 % of the surveillance is directed towards innocent people.
That part never is a part of the "marketing".

We need to discuss the latter part too..and it never is an issue in any political campaign..in any country...how come?

The marketing to enhance the acceptance of Surveillance is always:

Terrorists
Pedophiles
Heavy criminals
and a recent hit:
The Russians

Anything scary or disgusting works....

A proper democratic process to find the right balance between safety and freedom is obviously not in the interest of the peeping toms - they want to decide that themselves...
Attempts to avoid democratic control are plenty; National security, NATO articles demand the surveillance (Cyberdefence =Massive surveillance), trading data between countries ++

The only thing that is always impossible is an open debate about it - National security ..you see.....

The biggest Pedo Bears are the politicians themselves. Is a very common tactic to use fear and hate and many other feelings. People will give their freedom for safety. As far I know, even the news could be even fake. Now days, with so much disinformation, is hard to tell what is truth or not.

How that goes... Create the problem and then, become the solution.

But unless we are doing something wrong there just like that molester we shouldn't be worried right? If they are spying so what? We are clean.

Having said that the pedophiles are disgusting and need to be castrated; but even they should not be reason enough to give up freedom.

I do understand you but we are all victims of gov marketing here.

Everybodies privacy is violated - as opposed to someones - and that is a to high price.

When Justifying surveillance and violations of the constitution - only really disgusting or scary villains will do.. like pedophiles, Terrorists...or Russians
