Opera and blue youtube videos for Nvidia users - the fix

Postby viking60 » 28 Jun 2014, 11:58

I have this graphics card:
Graphics: Card: NVIDIA GT200b [GeForce GTX 275]
Display Server: X.Org 1.15.1 driver: nvidia Resolution: 1920x1200@59.95hz
GLX Renderer: GeForce GTX 275/PCIe/SSE2 GLX Version: 3.3.0 NVIDIA 331.79

And youtube videos look fine in other browsers but in opera everybody turns blue. This is a flash problem that Adobe wont fix. So what to do?

Here is the fix:

Edit /etc/adobe/mms.cfg

Code: Select all

sudo nano /etc/adobe/mms.cfg

And add/edit these two lines:

Code: Select all

EnableLinuxHWVideoDecode=1
OverrideGPUValidation=true

I had to uncomment the first line that was already there, and add the second line.

Close opera and start it again - and there; the videos are back to normal again. It does not affect how videos are shown in other browsers here.
But the side effect would be that your CPU is used more to play flash.
So now you can enjoy those technically interesting videos again:
Manjaro 64bit on the main box -Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz and nVidia Corporation GT200b [GeForce GTX 275] (rev a1. + Centos on the server - Arch on the laptop.
