Mageia 6

Postby R_Head » 03 Jul 2017, 01:47

According to their website...
This is a Release Candidate. Release Candidate software is software that has graduated Beta testing, and should be a release-ready product suitable for advanced users and reviewers. However, beginning users and critical-applications users may wish to wait for the final release planned for June 2017. Release Candidate is intended to identify any remaining bugs or missing packages.

It's a tradition. If you mention it; they will start whining about capacity and that you should contribute if you want it faster.

And if you do that you will have to join a group and have no clue what you are supposed to do - and it will not get out any faster. :tux5:
Personally I like the Debian style better. When you ask them when Debian will be out they always have one answer:
When it is good and ready!

Mageia has this lack of flexibility in their joining campaigns which always requires you to join some mailing list. If you don't want that then you are not considered as a contributor.

The contribution talk is often used mainly as a shut up technique -"get spammed or shut up".

Must be that French love for bureaucracy :-D

As long as it works it is good I guess. I cannot remember that Mageia has ever been out on one expected date - I am not sure if that ever has happened.
Manjaro 64bit on the main box -Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz and nVidia Corporation GT200b [GeForce GTX 275] (rev a1. + Centos on the server - Arch on the laptop.
"There are no stupid questions - Only stupid answers!"
