So they got a new CEO. How many have they had now over the last year alone? :P

The question is, what is he the CEO of. I don't think a new company.

That ship has been without a captain for years - I just feel sorry for the new guy. Lets hope there is something to the Russians wanting to go for Mandriva.
Mandriva would fit the shoe. It is easy to use it, is European as in not American. I think that still matters in Russia (+ resent spy stories).

Mandriva has a lot of potential and sure they have duds for leaders.

I remember when Gaël Duval left, right after the next release, it all went down hill.

Still a great distro, just lacked the soul we can say.

Yes it is too good to go down the drain.

Just beside the point. As Linux in general. There are way too many distributions and no standards. Everyone has a way of seen things but when the market is fragmented that way, nothing gets really done.

I wish they were a hand full of distro that can suit your needs. Even testing what you want is a daunting task.

The Linux realm needs someone to step up and start unifying some of the kingdoms.

In the way I see it, Linux is like a continent full or tribes but no real power.

The Ubuntu clan is getting strong and the Novel, Red Hat clans are too quiet doing their own little thing.

Oh Red hat is the most successful Linux company! I can see where you are coming from but I kind of like the fact that Linux is adapted and formed according to many different needs.
The standard is the Kernel. That is a common ground. Mandriva is for beginners, and Arch is for "Feinschmecker's" I like that I have the choice.

Saying it is to many distros is like saying there is to many websites.

There are too many websites. Let's see you cruise all of them in your lifetime. Google a recipe, and up comes 10,000,000 recipes for it. No one needs that much crap to wade through. Also, with that many web sites on one thing, how's anyone supposed to make money at it?

I agree with R_Head, and have been advocating for it almost for a very long time.

So we should standardize on Arch then right? And forget the rest? Don't you dare to touch my Arch!
Edit:
But again I can see your point.

why does a webpage have to earn money? only the best do, but it's a good way to start, and the customers get a wider array of options to choose from, it think that's just fine and dandy :P

That's just it. They get too much choice, and way too little real out of the choices. It's mostly crap to wade thru like I said.

'sides, the internet's becoming increasingly boring to me every single day. Don't need more to get bored over (and this is why).

I don't need more crap and noise in my life. I need more stability.
