(Which, from what I saw of it and gathered from it, is the issue you had.)

Interesting. When I was on mdv, I never had to kill pulseaudio. What I'd do is work with it. Whatever it wanted, I gave it to it, until I had sound. I have still, *I think*, to this day, one of the longest issues with pulseaudio in Mandriva Cooker, but we got it going. I killed it once during that time, but went right back to it. We worked with pulse.config a lot, did some tweaks in it, and a couple other files.

If you care to see I could probably hunt down the thread and bug.

Finally someone confirmed my bug report regarding the logout - I was beginning to think I was alone on this planet:

I have seen people complaining about TV Tuners and Webcams with Mics. TV Time seems to see the Webcam 1st and you can not change the source of video. Another is one that I am experiencing. the USB TV Tuner works but no audio comes out, but you can see on Pulse the bars moving along with the motions on the video. The problem is, the video is not routed to the speakers for some reason. Nothing seems to be muted, and the video works after I unplug the USB webcam.

I think is a Pulse Audio thing....

Or, could be that you need to change the device in PulseAudio preferences.

Many packagers leaving Mandriva now. They really need to come up with some good news soon. I am getting nervous here. One of the best distros really should survive.
The new management must be working hard I am sure - but they need to show something! Mandriva is sliding down the distrowatch list like a skydiver. Not good at all...

I'm wondering if there's actually a "new management" at all. There's been nothing confirmed by Mandriva that I've found. I think it's all rhetoric.

Yes the question is fair, but they did present the new CEO. Still all the other CEO's are still working there in some function - that can't be easy.
