Commodore 64 and a cassette player. Programed some sprites, and played Jumpman Junior and Donkey Kong. It could also be used as a typewriter :tux5:
Made a geography program in Basic with some nice peek and poke effects.

Yeah, I know you are.

Just seems ages ago, really.

Played on consoles a LOT before that, Atari, etc. - does that count? LOL

No, actually, had the floppy disks when I started. Then moved on from there.

And, y'know what? Was just thinking. I think I got the year wrong. I started school for computers in '93. Had already been on it for at least some 2-3 yrs. So, more like '89-90 probably. Was able to waive some 4 of my classes, and just take a test to pass them. Some 3 classes, I started at the II level, and not at I.

Nope, far from it.

Went to a 2-yr community college - the classes at those things are nothing more than high school all over again. Very easy to jump to the next year with a test, or if the teacher will take you into the next-level courses. Totally unchallenging, lemme tell ya, and even the worst could do it if they set their mind to it.

Heck, only took me some 1/2 hr to complete the DOS one 'cause I'd already been doing it for so long.

Only reason I went to college in the first place was so I could say on paper that I could do what I could do.

However, that's all about to change... I'm going to be going back. But not to this area. Several things I want to do still, which involve Linux, and music, among other things.

I found my old piano teacher on Facebook today.... turns out when I leave the states, she may be able to recommend me a good piano teacher where I'm going. She's fairly well world-renowned.

Didn't I know it: You are a famous pianist too. I went to my piano teacher for 7 years (my parents made me  ) And I did not learn much.
Computers I have never learned formally I just started using them. :tux5: At work of course who did not.

I went on to IBM XT 8088 with a Hercules card (The dream!) at work and went to IBM 80286. But mostly we used IBMS36 and terminals. Later on we mostly emulated PC's.

I went to the University back in 1982. My major was Electrical with a dash of Electronics, Communications and Robotics. Once I learned how a Computer works (Internal Components and how Execute programs) lost interest on it and went to work on Aircraft Powerplants... I found Aviation more fun :D As live goes, end up with a gig as a Network Admin for about 8 years... Oh well... back in Aviation again :A
