tech forum deleted account

Postby gnuuser » 18 Sep 2018, 18:45

I was a member on level 1 tech forum but after a few days ive decided to delete my account there.
while there is much discussion of linux there I get the impression that its more a gamer oriented site.
as a specialist in automation and full implementation of hardware its offensive to me to use top of the line equipment and push its boundaries in over-clocking and spending absurd amounts of money for the purpose of playing games.
while my technical knowledge is valuable im not banging my head against a brick wall arguing with them.
im not comfortable there any more.

I heard ya... Started years ago on a forum that most of their members used their rigs for Overclocking Challenges, Folding and Bragging Rights. Found the whole thing absurd... The tech info was good as far keeping up with the latest and greatest hardware. I used to know quiet a bit as far hardware, not any more. My whole life changed from IT to Aero Space, specialy Composites.

Anyway, is a waste of resources to Overclock.

considering the speed of the processors today and multicore/multi thread technologies the human eye is not going to see any significant difference.
from overclocking but you will see the difference when the chip is fried and no longer works.
designing more efficient cooling would be more effective and profitable to the end user (of which I do have extremely good knowledge on designing)
but i guess its hard to get them to understand that reliability and efficiency is a lot more important than how soon a zombie groans after you shoot them.
of course before i retired not having to tinker with a machine or program all the time left me with a lot of time for organizing, designing and teaching.
