heart monitor implant

Postby gnuuser » 20 Jul 2018, 18:43

saw a cardiologist and just had a monitor implant surgery (3 days ago).
sore as hell yet but getting better,
doc wants to monitor closely for a few months to see what type of pacemaker or icd that needs to be installed.
the implant is about 1/4 inch thick about 3/8 wide and 2 inches long.

geez pretty soon the borg will assimilate me Image

yeah certain plastics and body locations do not require anti rejection drugs as long as the items are sterile before implanting.
another prime example is the eyes, Intra ocular implants glass or plastic will not be rejected by the body.
implantable monitors are great because they can be used for long term monitoring
and they are developing different monitors for different functions
such as internal glucose monitoring ,temperature fluctuation, neuro and synapse monitoring
the biggest benifit is you are not confined to a hospital bed for testing. hence lower insurance cost.

just had the first reading taken from it a couple days ago and its surprising how much information they recorded.
anyhow my cardiologist changed 2 of my meds. and scheduled another reading in six weeks.
and instructions from him to rest more, and stay out of excessive heat, and to get my but to the orthopdist to get my bum shoulder fixed.
I dont feel bad but i do tend to tire out easily
