Does the Linux community trust Microsoft?

Postby viking60 » 04 Dec 2016, 02:42

Microsoft has declared its love for Linux and is a premium member of the Linux foundation. That is good and well but is this "true love" or a case of "keep your enemies closer"?

Given the history with EEE and Cancer the relationship will take some healing.

So is this a one-sided crush from Microsoft or are they loved back?

I think I know the answer to that one.

If Microsoft gets really active in providing hardware that will take a vanilla Linux installation not hindering with hardware locked keys then I think the community would come around.

That would mean that Microsoft will help Linux also when it is not installed on a MS platform - which is ridiculous anyway.

All the worlds supercomputers are powered by Linux and now they should fit into the inferior MS platform?

Why would anyone want to try to fit a Buss into a VW beetle?

It does not make sense so if our new premium member will help us lift the Hardware limitations on some laptops - they would get the cred.

As it is Microsoft is not a very trusted member premium or not..... Is there hope for that to change? :confused

Yes that seems to be the common sentiment
