Apple is the worlds biggest company MS is no. 3

Postby viking60 » 20 Nov 2014, 08:03

The biggest companies in the world are tech companies. Apple is the biggest or most valuable company in the world followed by Exxon Mobile, Microsoft is the third most valuable company in the world, so they keep in front of Google. There is not much between the companies behind Apple so they might switch places from day to day.

Here is the "techlist":

    1. Apple: 677.21 billion dollar

    2. Microsoft: 401.76 billion dollar

    3. Google: 362.95 billion dollar

    4. Oracle: 182.84 billion dollar

Under new CEO Satya Nadella, Microsoft has worked to overcome its reputation as a clumsy behemoth struggling to keep up with new tech trends and consumer habit.
The market seems to like the replacement of Ballmer and Nadella's vision for Microsoft.

Nadella has been cutting expenses and jobs and that does go well with the market.
His vision of taking Microsoft to the clouds is trendy and going for the mobile technology is trendy too.
Nothing there is particularly new though.

Microsoft is trying to skate where the puck is going.

Apple is more valuable than Microsoft has ever been and beats Microsofts no 1 peek in 1999.

Should say the most profitable. Still makes me wonder. MS has other products that makes tons of cash. Apple just a few.

Apple do sell hardware and they rely on design.
People are willing to pay a lot of money for the "fashion statement". Once you call it design you can shamelessly charge a lot of money.

Microsoft does not have much hardware to sell - they are making offers the OEM's can't refuse.

But that was for PC's; in the mobile and tablet market they are just trying to catch up with the creativeness of Google and Apple.

Clearly Microsoft wants to be big on servers now (aka clouds) they even made a jippo of loving Linux as long as it is on Microsoft clouds.

That is a bit backwards since all the truly big servers in the world run on Linux - so it would make more sense to host Windows on a LInux server (or "cloud").
