Apple is actively reducing capasity on older iPhones

When Apple releases a new phone and a new OS they also reduce the capacity of the old existing phones.
Apple does confirm this and claims that old batteries might not provide enough power so they reduce the speed to ensure stability on older phones.

A new battery should correct it.

Probably annoying if you spend nights in front of an Apple store some years ago....

If you want speed it does not seem to be a good idea to upgrade the iOS.

I have the iPhone 7 128 GB, Problem I am facing is with the software update. Have enough space on the device, the update has been downloaded but whenever I am trying to install the update, it shows me the message verifying update and then completely stops. No other error is shown.

I have also done the force restart but still could not install the latest IOS 12 Update.

Any idea what could be the issue with it and how can I resolve it.

TIA

Honestly, not a clue, we do not own any Apple products or Microsoft.
