iOS 10 can br brutforced - or the backup of it can.
It is possible to try thousands of passwords with an 80 to 90 % chance of success. Apple has been under heavy preassure from the FBI after a shooting incident in the US to allow backdoors.
It can not be completly ruled out that Apple caved in an "played nice".
Now that the flaw is public and aknowledged by Apple; the intention is to fix this. There is no given time frame at this point:
