Re: Apple suing HTC over 20 pattents
To be honest, I'm not so sure the lawyers are too happy with it, either, being overwhelmed by those suits.
I'd rather be a free person who fears terrorists, than be a "safe" person who fears the government.

Yes they sure need to learn source code fast It is like having patent rights on a language. I have patent on the words "interlockatory" and "injuction" and "court" and now he is using the words too I want money now!
Manjaro 64bit on the main box -Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz and nVidia Corporation GT200b [GeForce GTX 275] (rev a1. + Centos on the server - Arch on the laptop.

Yep, that's about what I keep thinking.

Found an oversight in the Lounge - moved to here. Thanks.

Time for the Americans to realize how stupid software patents are
we know!
but if the rich want to cheat everyone else that's what they pay lawyers for.
open source has apple and ms worried quite a bit.
My own company would try to claim my code work if I did any of it on their property
so I don't even keep notes there, when I have an idea I keep it in my head until I get home.
I write plc/slc programs for different machinery automation functions

Patents are a 2 edge sword.
No to defend the corporations business, just to put it in perspective.
In a way they are useful, they can benefit and give credit to creators of software.
What I think is frivolous is patenting what is normal to humans.
For example...
A car, they have 4 wheels, doors, steering wheel, etc.
The systems, in the way they are build and assemble and perhaps the way they operate are a trade secret.
What I consider no patentable are designs that can not have a way around it.
Like I mentioned before, a car, an airplane, an elevator, a computer, etc...
In the way they work internally can be patented.
The Russians has been accused of copying the Space Shuttle.
They said the reason of the design was the best approach to the problem.
But looking at it closely they are not identical, the just look similar.
That was a better design? That is questionable.
A good example of some like that is .Net and Java.
Both does the same but they are developed different.
Which one is best, that is debatable.
Like happen in the past, MS was tying to patent Mouse Clicks, Apple was trying to patent the use of a Touch Screen.
There is no other way around it, is a common human natural movement.
How the info is transmitted from movement to the OS, that is another story.
The doll GI Joe if you look carefully it has one of the thumbs backwards.
It was done that way so they can patent the doll.
You can not patent the human body, so they made it nonhuman (based on no known human has a backwards thumb).
Well, that is my take on that...
