Chromebox, Googles answer to Mac mini

Postby viking60 » 03 Jun 2012, 09:16

ImageChromebox is the same size as Mac Mini.
It comes with an Intel Celeron B840-prosessor, 4 GB minne and 16 GB SSD. The OS is Googles ChromeOS and there is no need for much storage space according to Google because everything will be stored in the cloud.

It has two USB ports in the front and four in the back. It does support 30" screens and a resolution of 2594 x 1440 pixels. It as wireless (a/b/g/n) and Bluethooth and built in powersuplly so you do not need the lump on the cable, just like Mac Mini.

The box has no problem in playing video in full HD (1080p). It boots in 5 seconds. So now it remains to be seen if Apple is flattered or engaging an army of lawyers.

Chromebox costs 329 dollars while Mac Mini costs 599 dollars.
Apple is a bit more versatile than Chromebox - so you decide if it is worth the money.
Manjaro 64bit on the main box -Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz and nVidia Corporation GT200b [GeForce GTX 275] (rev a1. + Centos on the server - Arch on the laptop.

I like it the form factor.

That could be the perfect box to attach to a nice Flat Screen.

Yes I agree.
But I have this thing about saving my films and music and nude photos of me and Hillary Clinton in the "clouds"
The risk for it to leak out to the public is there....
OMG - I just leaked it
