Microsoft will demand Tpm2 for Windows 10 hardware

Postby viking60 » 15 May 2016, 13:27

Tpm 2 aka Trusted Platform Module is a dedicated microprocessor that takes care of encryption. This processor cannot be tampered with.

Each TPM chip has a unique and secret RSA key burned in as it is produced, it is capable of performing platform authentication. So does this mean that microsoft can make sure that the hardware only run Windows10 ?

Maybe they can; but the Linux kernel can handle TMP too.

In any case Microsoft is going to demand it from the hardware suppliers; meaning that it will be hard to impossible to turn this function off.

Secure Boot, now this.... so they can lock you out, encrypt your data so you cannot access it for whatever reason.

What bothers me is that someone probably knows that secret RSA key....
