Mandriva 64bit. I have had battle of wesnoth working for a long time but now when I start the game it all looks fine - exept I cannot click any button! Caramba!
"Load game" "start new game" etc do not respond at all!
So I cannot start a game or do anything actually.
As usual I have no clue - so I am going to need your help with this one -please?

What happens if you start it from terminal?
Anything there? My own suspicion is that there may have been components removed that it needs from updates, what-have-you.
Code: Select all
wesnoth

Same thing:
The game starts and the music starts, and the rollover button works, but Left-clicking them is impossible.

Does anything come up in terminal when you try to do these things? Anything telling there?

Re: Battle of Wesnoth - buttons not responding (Mandriva)
Also, what version of Battle of Wesnoth does MDV have going there? I'm on 1.8 in Fedora, working fine. Installing addons to it one by one to see if there's an issue with them, but so far they're happily installing. Thanks. Needed to get this game going again.
I'm wondering if you've tried renaming your ~/.wesnothxx folder, and then seeing what it does with a new game starting? That might rule out something being in your game possibly that's doing this.
Edit: Oops, cross-post. That tells me the version you're on, but doesn't say much more. Hhmmm.

Re: Battle of Wesnoth - buttons not responding (Mandriva) Topic is solved
I got it going after a zillion reinstalls I edited the preferences file in /home/me/.wesnoth1.8 and changed the fullscreen setting to "yes" and then it all works! I have no idea why but now I can edit the settings in GUI.
Thanks for putting me on the right track there.

Sorry, also see this bug, and see if that's what you're experiencing please?

Good, glad it's sorted. It begs the question though as to why it took so many reinstalls - could MDV be having urpmi server issues with it? It's too great of a game to botch.

Boss, what's your favorite level in that?

Re: Battle of Wesnoth - buttons not responding (Mandriva)-SO
I like them all (well as far as I have gotten). I kind of am starting over again due to the reinstalls. Most of them are very fun. Just remember not to take the ship to the next level in level 2 or 3 that Island with the undead is impossible to win.
