Mozilla Firefox (Mageia) + Flash Plugin

Postby dedanna1029 » 05 Nov 2015, 04:42

As usual, Mageia is way behind on their version of Firefox. They're on v. 38 when Firefox is up to v. 42 now.

So, I've downloaded the tar.gz and extracted it to /home/me/Extract, so I now have /home/me/Extract/firefox/.

Where exactly would I put the copy of libflashplayer.so? I've forgotten.
Isn't there another file I need to copy over as well for the flash plugin to work?

Thanks.

You could try to make a directory in ~/.mozilla called plugins and put it in there.
~/.mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so

Restart Firefox and check that it is there by typing about:plugins in the address bar (should work).

The default placement after a normal install of flash-player-plugin is in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so
Manjaro 64bit on the main box -Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz and nVidia Corporation GT200b [GeForce GTX 275] (rev a1. + Centos on the server - Arch on the laptop.

Oi.

What I ended up having to do was move the firefox folder to /home/me, then do what you said there about libflashplayer.so - make the plugins folder in ~/.mozilla then copy libflashplayer.so to there.
As long as the firefox folder was in /home/me/Extract, it seems that it didn't know where to look for libflashplayer.so.

All's well that ends well though.

Thanks!
