The problem there seems to be that Mageia has not identified any network interface ?
Manjaro 64bit on the main box -Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz and nVidia Corporation GT200b [GeForce GTX 275] (rev a1. + Centos on the server - Arch on the laptop.

The only thing it found was landline, and said it was down LOL. Right now, it's nonexistent haha.

It *says* it's not finding the ndiswrapper interface, when ndiswrapper is clearly "installed" I guess is the word. It's there. It's the wireless I was trying to get going.

Edit: I've also posted to the Mageia forum, see if they have any bright ideas.

Update: I think they need to learn to read.

It ain't gonna fly.
I'm more than sure I'm going to have to wait for kernel 4.2 to ship out of the box. *major siiiiiiggghh

Try Manjaro with the non GUI install - then you can have 4.2. There was an install problem that is supposedly fixed now

Yeah, I did try that at one time in all this, and got lost... lol.

I'm also wondering on Haiku and FreeBSD. Now that should be interesting relearning on FreeBSD. Haiku I've never run. It's on Alpha 4, but from what I've seen it's relatively stable now. The problem being that development on it goes so slowly.

I've been kind of wanderlust with all this.

I would consider Freebsd a server specialist - especially for storage features. As a desktop I only find it frustrating. :confused Good luck with drivers there :wall:
I have never tried Haiku - looks interesting.

Install and tell you padawans about it - I will.... :starwars2

I am writing this from Haiku! I had to partition evererything from the install iso and that went OK. There is some quirky new logic in the Haku GUI but not impossible to figure out.

So I installed the lot and rebotted and everything including network was fine.

Haiku has no terminal so you better get good at that GUI navigation.
One of the finest features seem to be tab grouping Like in Pek WM - it works perfectly fine - so if you are into that - good.
There are almost no applications and I have yet to find out how to install them.

The desktop looks OK and it works, righclikk and get a menu a panel etc.

It's just that all of this has been invented already - I can not figure out what Haku is better than :confused
Haku looks nice and has a different gui system - it is a desktop only thing therefore it needs no terminal. Definetly not for me :-D

Well, I do use tabs in my browsers, but in general, only sometimes...

Found this insofar as how to install programs. Edit: and this.

No terminal? For shame. Maybe you've just not found it. It's listed here.

OK, no more going OTT in this thread for me. In order to prevent future frustrations, not to mention huge disappointments, I'm going to run things in Virtualbox, and spend the day relearning it - I haven't used it since 2008-2009, as I've had no real need to. I'll start with redownloading the Manjaro, try it, then it will be on to Haiku.

Once I find something that works, I'll go with it.

I think the thing that's most disappointing in this is that I never thought I'd see the day when Linux was lagging behind in hardware, but in this, it definitely is. There are conflicting reports as to whether this is supported at all, and even when I find something that says it's supported, when I go to research it, it's really not. here, and it seems it's not really supported, even in kernel 4.2, because the testing distros (such as F23) coming out haven't caught up with this.

I'm beginning to think that development for this thing is on the back burner.

It looks like installing kernel 3.19 and then dkms makes it magically work on Ubuntu - while it is not working with kernel 4.1.
