Browser speed dials

Postby dedanna1029 » 14 Jun 2013, 15:49

I've normally started in my browser with about:blank for the home page, so that I could go literally anywhere I wanted to go. These days though, there is this "speed dial" in most browsers, and it's become more convenient to use. Problem is, I'm not sure how to put it in browser Settings to start with as one of the home pages. What is the url or file to the speed dial? Anyone know? The screenshot is what I'm talking about.

Thanks.

Hmm I think it comes with the default chromium.
In Firefox 21 I have it out of the box too (Manjaro). So I did not set it.

But I guess you could install:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefo ... peed-dial/
That is a good one that lets you edit your dials.

Edit..
In Chromium browsers you can make this your start page:
chrome://newtab/#launch
(looks good wit the X New Tab extension)
Manjaro 64bit on the main box -Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz and nVidia Corporation GT200b [GeForce GTX 275] (rev a1. + Centos on the server - Arch on the laptop.

hhmmm... This would be for IceApe. It has the speed dials, but they don't come up any more on startup, along with Firefox 21, and I need it on startup. The only thing that comes up in FF21 is the Mageia page. :p Thanks.

I'll have a look. While you are waiting you can have a look at my free beer speed dial:

Here we go:
Install the fvd speed dial extension with full online sync (it is the best for FireFox).
In FireFox - set your startpage to:

Code: Select all

chrome://fvd.speeddial/content/fvd_about_blank.html

It works! I shit you not.

Stay away from that sync bit though it is a cloud function that lets you transport your settings to other PC's (No need to inform the NSA of your favorites).
Manjaro 64bit on the main box -Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz and nVidia Corporation GT200b [GeForce GTX 275] (rev a1. + Centos on the server - Arch on the laptop.

Well, they may be none of their business, but really, I don't care. I got thousands of bookmarks I'd actually like for them to see...

That free beer speed dial is cool!
