Above 100% CPU??? (Mageia 2)

Postby dedanna1029 » 16 May 2013, 04:08

Why in the hell would urpmi-dispatcher and lzma be taking up over 100% CPU between the two, for hours on end??? Look at this crap (where the small arrows are)! At times this jumps up to 91%/47% respectively! Right now, at 118% total with the two! What do I do? I'm lucky to be posting this! Thanks.

Oh, look. Seems someone else has had this issue too. Think I'll take a gander. Barring what's said there, any ideas on how to get rid of package kit? I don't like it anyway, and prefer to use urpmi command-line? Seems I can just stop the two processes (maybe) and remove it straight-out. I'll try it and mark this solved or not, depending on what happens.

Can't wait for Mageia 3! Just a few days now. :)

Nope, sorry, I'm having issues getting the two processes to stop (even with kill -9), and also getting some packaagekit components uninstalled. Here's what I'm dealing with:

Code: Select all

[root@dedanna ~]# rpm -qa | grep packagekit
packagekit-gtk3-module-0.6.21-3.mga2
libpackagekit-glib14-0.6.21-3.mga2
packagekit-0.6.21-3.mga2
gnome-packagekit-common-3.4.0-1.mga2
packagekit-gstreamer-plugin-0.6.21-3.mga2

I'm wondering if I'd have very negative effects if I used rpm -e --nodeps to uninstall them.

Thanks much.

Re: [solved] Above 100% CPU??? (Mageia 2)  Topic is solved

Couldn't wait for an answer, sorry. The CPU was getting way hot, and the fan (being on a Toshiba) was running incessantly. I just went in and eradicated those with rpm -e --nodeps, along with another couple of packagekit-related packages, rebooted to kill the processes, and here I am. I think I've probably just killed at least half of my sluggish issues on this netbook.

Never again on packagekit. They can keep their Fedorafied garbage. Now, devels, please stop giving me unnecessary (and somewhat harmful) bloatware!!!
