inxi would not update man page

Postby dedanna1029 » 25 Mar 2013, 10:40

Code: Select all

[root@dedanna ~]# inxi -U
Starting inxi self updater.
Currently running inxi version number: 1.8.13
Current version patch number: 00
Updating inxi in /usr/bin using svn server as download source...
Successfully updated to svn server version: 1.8.45
New svn server version patch number: 00
To run the new version, just start inxi again.
----------------------------------------
Starting download of man page file now.
Checking Man page download URL...
--->Man file download URL failed, unable to continue: http://inxi.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/inxi.8.gz

Is this a general (natural) error when updating inxi?

I am not sure/can't remember. But you can always check the latest here I do not think that it will affect the functionality
have you done inxi --recommends? Did the update work what is you current version? Gimme an inxi -F...

I've done the recommends, and there is only one thing really of note, that I do not have sudo installed. That's deliberate on my part, as I want nothing to do with sudo, and am not willing to install it for inxi. It installed by default with Mageia, and I uninstalled it.

inxi -F:

Code: Select all

You only need sudo for the hdd temp so you will be fine without it.
You are running the latest version and it works just fine and the man page should have been downloaded it is not a common error - I just checked:

Code: Select all

Starting download of man page file now.
Checking Man page download URL...
Man file download URL verified: http://inxi.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/inxi.1.gz
Downloading Man page file now.
Download/install of man page successful. Check to make sure it works: man inxi

Maybe if you run inxi -U again? If that does not work ask the Mageia people why they are working black magic on you
The same error occurs in Mandriva. The name of the file seems to be wrong.

Solution: inxi would not update man page  Topic is solved

Postby viking60 » 25 Mar 2013, 15:22

It will work if you run inxi -U again after you have upgraded - since the file name is correct in the updated script. Do that and life is good again.
(and mark this SOLVED)
