this site has a test program that's supposed to chose the best distro for you
funny thing though for me it picked the ones i didn't care too much for!

Suse, Debian, Fedora, Mandriva. I guess it is for beginners.
Manjaro 64bit on the main box -Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz and nVidia Corporation GT200b [GeForce GTX 275] (rev a1. + Centos on the server - Arch on the laptop.

I kind of like the knoppix type distros better
but I use a lot of different ones though
