Manjaro 15.09 released

Postby dedanna1029 » 28 Sep 2015, 21:04

Released (Bellatrix) as of yesterday.
Since June we are working on this release. First thing you will notice, this release was not tagged 0.9.0 as we would have normal done. Well, we had a discussion with all developers and decided to go for date tags from now on.

Also new is: we ship with Calamares as an alternative graphical installer. It is now stable enough to be used on productive systems. You can still use Thus. Also our terminal installer got some small improvements. So stay tuned for the fresh ISO image hit the net …

There are other changes listed here.

Under "Currently supported kernels" it lists 4.2. Are the currently supported kernels ones that ship out of the box, or do they come as updates?

I doubt that 4.2 comes out of the box so you will need to install it from the Manjaro Settings manager - it is just a click away.
I use it +1

Code: Select all

 mhwd-kernel -li
Currently running: 4.2.1-1-MANJARO (linux42)
The following kernels are installed in your system:
   * linux314
   * linux41
   * linux42

Edit
Give it a few days - I see that Arch comes with 4.2 as default now so Manjaro will probably too.
Manjaro 64bit on the main box -Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz and nVidia Corporation GT200b [GeForce GTX 275] (rev a1. + Centos on the server - Arch on the laptop.

Oh, so it means that it's there to install, without having to update.

OK, thanks.

Yeah, a couple of days.

But, but, but... ARCH!!!! :D

From the live dvd. I'm not going to install any more distros until I know in the future that they will work. I'm just not.

True; the live DVD will indicate when the drivers have found their way into the distro.
