Manjaro has blown life into Compiz and have removed the heavy duty gnome dependencies to make it lightweight.
It has reached the stable repos and is quite impressive - as Compiz always has been:
All the good old compiz effects are, there and I have to admit that I liked them during my Gnome 2 days. Now I can use them again in a light version
And I must admit that it has far more options than kwin.
But since moods change i have made a button to switch between Kwin,Xfwm4 (the default) and Compiz.
So when I am in a mood to write on my desktop with burning flames and put it out with water - I switch to Compiz
It works wonders when Windows boys feel sorry for me when I am in Openbox or even in plain CLI with tmux. and show me all the GUI stuff windows can do.
After a switch to Compiz and do some magic stuff - they are completely silent and in awe
If you need it?
..eh no.. not at all - but you can use it - That is the beauty of Linux.

Yeeeeeeesss! Have been waiting to see if this would come 'round! Yay! You know how much I love compiz, how functional it is for me. Good to know!
Using XFCE for the most part too when I can get a box going.
Impressed? Oh, hell yeah!

Compiz revived
This Compiz has been solid and stable without any problems so it is well maintained despite some Google results saying otherwise.

They're quite functional for me. There's some old desktop pics in the desktop thread from when I used it before circumstances deemed I couldn't any more.
It made things quicker and easier to find and use, as well as several other things.
To each his own though.
