Speeeeeeeeeeed! :)

Postby dedanna1029 » 06 Jul 2010, 21:53

My connection went bunko last night, and my provider's techsup had to come out today and work on it.

Wheeeeeeeee! Much better now! It was sitting at less than half of my 7 Mbps down speed before. Still don't like that upload speed though.

Wow you have got a lot of speed there! That is what it is all about I guess.

What always tickle me is why Downloads are faster than Uploads if it comes from the same pipe.

I think the ISPs throttle the speeds so nobody can have their very own Web Services.

Have you tried to use a FTP server on your home network?
It sucks to retrieve files but is is faster to up load them from the cloud.

ADSL = asymmetric DSL. That means that the speeds up and down are different (not symmetric) on ADSL. Most people don't need fast upload speeds.

Yeah, was going to say that I have 7 Mbps down, but I only have 828K (or something like that) up. Am on ADSL.

Most ISP's offer SDSL too if you need it. But it is going to cost more.

Exactly and that is my point...

Maybe is not throttle like I was saying, just they give you a "cripple" line so you have to pay more for the Upload and keep you from providing a service.

What I want is to have my very own home server that can access all my data and perhaps make my own e-mail server.
Also, remote control one of my nodes to have a full blown capability with my next Android Tablet :D
