Yeah banning software is not that easy .. not without heavy censorship..

I'd rather be a free person who fears terrorists, than be a "safe" person who fears the government.

And you have to cop the wording banning the "use of."
So if we use it, we're using it illegally.

Well, I see the reason why. Why outsourcing the security to an overseas operation? Not that I am saying that Kapersky is bad, but on this case, home cooked is better. Same as Germany using Microsoft on their system when they can cook their own OS.

We are not the ones outsourcing it. I think what's going on is that our country is too paranoid of Russia for one, and for another, we don't want any honestly good AVs - we might be able to wipe the government clean off of our computers with one.

The challenge for our beloved leaders is mostly that they do not want a secure computer...Well they want their computers to be secure--but not everybody else's.
For national security reasons...

And the excuse to open your systems is....

Well, until and if they get my wireless driver going, I'm using Trend Micro. It came with the computer.

I use one (Kaspersky) just in case. Viruses have been increasing. Generally, if you only use signed/licensed apps, you should be fine without one. But if you're installing apps from the internet for whatever reason, it's best to have one after reading some reviews. Check some reviews listed on techmused.
