Window 8.1 is out

Postby viking60 » 18 Oct 2013, 00:51

Windows has launched version 8.1 and the update is free.
MS has put out instructions on how to update.

Windows 8.1 is more or less what they used to call a service pack.
The new thing is that this pack will only be provided via Windows store.

Some new functions are:
SmartSearch that lets you search both locally and the web at the same time.
Be aware that even your local searches will be sent to Microsoft and from there (most likely) to the NSA via the Prism program.
Different tile sizes.
Better integration with Skydrive. (Sky and Cloud services are not secure unless you control them)

It is supposed to be an integration of peoples wishes because Microsoft "have been listening" and have acted accordingly.

Windows 7 was popular and Windows 8 has been criticized and has not been successful with the consumers.
The MS secure boot is reducing the Hardware's functionality so it may not be the favorite of the OEM's either.
