Really want to learn some Linux? New Arch.iso is out

Arch has released the December spin of Arch Linux. It is for new Archers and those who want to reinstall.
Arch is a rolling release so all others can simply update.

But the spin is out and you will need a dongle or CD and the Arch beginners guide in front of you. From there you can attempt the install. :tux5:

If Arch is for you?

Nope it is not ! :-D Not if you have to ask...

You see Arch has this recruiting strategy; They tell everybody that Arch is not for them to ensure that they only recruit the stubborn people in denial.
Preferably without social skills which is a good thing these days given what the social media do to your privacy.

...or people like me who get to feel special and sophisticated by telling people that Arch is not for them.
If the strategy works? Oh yes! it is like Adam in paradise; he could have everything but that apple.....so it is the oldest marketing strategy in the book.

If Arch is for me? Oh yes and even if it is bleeding edge it is remarkably stable and works where even Manjaro has bugs...

Mandriva's 2008.1 release was the best Mandriva version IMO, but the best system I had, was a Fedora/Arch dual boot. Stable as all hell, very customizable, and just plain very nice. Maybe someday, I'll be able to do it again.

I didn't stick around with Mandriva until 2012. When things started falling apart for them, I went here to this forum, then went back to Arch and Fedora.

Well Manjaro is the top dog on Distrowatch these days and it is an Arch derivative that is very user friendly.
I use it and it is rock solid. You can have all DE's and they are all good.. 'cept Gnome3 of course...

Well there are people that like it but they just fubared after the very good Gnome2.
Those extensions will break on every update so if you have a lot of time you can go fro Gnome 3. In any case that is not distro specific and Manjaro is great.
I keep Arch in my virtualbox but Manjaro is the same + much more and much easier.

It does not have exactly the Draktools but they have other solutions that compensate for it -like the settings manager.

I never could get Manjaro to install, plus I just really have always loved Arch.
I don't bother with Gnome or KDE, unless there are files from it for XFCE.
Gnome & KDE remind me of two-party system we have here in the states. Most don't realise that honestly, both parties suck, and there are much better alternatives.

Jupp XFCE is also better IMHO.
I think the Manjaro installer is better now and definitely easier than Arch.
There is also a CLI installer that I Like

This will save you if the GUI installer fails.
