Mandriva under pressure - again

Postby viking60 » 06 Jan 2012, 17:09

It is begining to hit the news now : Mandriva may have to close the doors.
The 42% shareholder Linlux is blocking the refunding. The probable cenario is that Linlux SARL (formerly Occam Capital) has already saved Mandrivas bacon on a former occasion and had hopes for that investment to pay off.
Instead they are faced with yet another crisis with the potential of loosing shares or money.
This is annoying, but not very professional since they will ensure their own loss by blocking the funding.
The Mandriva board by President Dominicue Loucougain has put the pressure on Linlux by declaring that they will file for bankruptcy if the funding is not in place by the 16th of January.
Exiting times....

So that's who Linlux is.
That makes the situation more clear, it seems to me. A nice, friendly blog post, if the news is a bit worrisome. Thanks for finding it! :B

Is sad to see a great distro going through the tubes for the simple fact of stupidity and bad business practices Image

I am not at all sure that the funding will fail. This is only a game to see who will fold first.
But the business practice is a long term thing that must be sustainable.

And the day has come and passed. :confused
It might be understandable that a proceeding like this is not communicated in detail but if you inform the community about a specific date I would think that a follow up would be natural.
Maybe something has come up though. The might be counting the money from a new surprising investor.

From the blog:
We would like to inform that a proposal to acquire Mandriva has been submitted by an external entity. As required in such a situation, the major shareholders have been asked to determine their position. As per today, Mandriva has not received every determination in written form and will, in consequence, wait until January, 23rd to decide on the future of the company.

January the 23rd it is then,,,,

Which has also come and gone. So, what the hell is going on now?

They will take another couple of days to figure out the investor thing.
