Sure. And I bet once you do, you'll go, "Oh hell, that's all it was?" lol.

Here is the link to the 64 bit Plf repo

Code: Select all

urpmi.addmedia --update MDV-restricted_64 http://mirror.pianetalinux.org/MIB/2011.0/64/projects/restricted/

It will pull FF 6 as a dependency when you update - so I guess you will have to keep it.
Manjaro 64bit on the main box -Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz and nVidia Corporation GT200b [GeForce GTX 275] (rev a1. + Centos on the server - Arch on the laptop.

Thanks. Still in Mageia 1 atm, I got my digital camera working, by installing some gphoto2 Mandriva packages, was looking for acroread, wound up using the Browsing Mandriva https: download directories trick to get a copy of the 2010.2 PWP x86_64 dvd iso, then added the iso as urpmi media, something I've wondered about the installer failing to do for a long time: How add a loopback DVD iso image to fstab??

Got my acroread, camera, still stressing about spotty printer response and missing mail biff in Seamonkey.... oh, and no Dropbox icon!!! Image

Here I am, back in a fresh ftp install of 2010.2: gtkam problems gone, dropbox problems gone, seamonkey missing mail biff problem gone. Much better. :gimme

I was jazzed about rpm5 but can't afford to spend more time troubleshooting, will wait some more before upgrading.

Thanks for being guinea-pig. Now I will wait too. :-D I only have VB experience. I had planed to wait for some kind of Gnome anyway.
You are making a very important point here: The OS is the instrument, not the goal. We are supposed to do something with it - not to it.
I think Mandriva needs to work out of the box - it is not the classic "do it yourself" distro.
It is the "switch from Windows because Mandriva is better" distro.
I realize that I have a bid advantage in Arch: Although it takes a while to set up - I have done it - so I know it works and have control over it. It is way more stable than other distros - for that reason.
...And in fact less time consuming.

desmondarmstrong has an issue at Mandriva forum, Mandriva 2010.2 PWP ISO that I dealt with just yesterday with the Browsing Mandriva https: download directories method.

Maybe someone who hasn't been banned from there
:lolup
could link him up? :cheers

Question: Did you install dropbox, or nautilus-dropbox? It's nautilus-dropbox that has the icon.

Tried upstream version with it? Sorry, am in a fast furious rush here. Lots to do today. Admittedly, couldn't take time to read that, but just did.

I'm back on Mandriva 2010.2 with most things working as before. Including dropbox, icon and all. So, I'm set for a while.
