Windows users may be wondering what an md5sum is, an SHA1, or any of the like. There is more information here about what they are, and the necessity for them.

The link above that I've put here will explain it to you, and help you along your way with a program called FCIV. FCIV is also a program that is an unsupported program that Microsoft has posted about, and I've found it to be quite good. Click the "Show" button here, and you can see it in operation:

So, what are you waiting for? You now have the necessary tools to do it. Download this wonderful free set of tools, and back up your system while it's still in a healthy state. You won't regret it.
Installation instructions and download for FCIV are included in this post.

The Viking.iso can also be downloaded and synced from my "cloud" (owncloud). This may be on and off from time to time since it is a broken laptop that I have turned into a Centos server in the boys room.
I plan to keep it up all the time.... but sometimes I cannot resist the urge to play arround with it and test new stuff which could generate some downtime.

The ISP may also be to blame without me having that much influence over it.

The server is AES 256 encrypted but you should not notice it since the decryption will be done "on the fly" by Owncloud.

Here it is:

No extra steps - just download :!:

The VikingRescueSystem has been updated with the latest versions of the software.
I have tried to edit all the links above (and elsewhere).

I've shared this to Facebook. Particularly Windows users, they need this stuff (especially if they're Facebook users too lol).

Yes the Redo backup would easily save them from Wannacry.

If they are booting Uefi style then they may need to go into Bios and choose "legacy" boot (or something similar) to make the DVD boot.
When they are done they can change it back again.
This is very HW specific.

Can the Rescue CD reset passwords in Windows? The reason that I am asking is that I forgot the Admin password and do not want to reinstall the system (dual boot).

Yes it can!
I have not yet tried it with Windows 10 because they have a password in the clouds solution, but it should be possible to set a password locally,
You should be able to set "no password".
I am unable to log in to my Win 10 after a crappy Win update and I have not bothered to check it out yet since I don't use Windows
