Rap/hip-hop
A quick question, how does anyone tell the diff between one song and another? I'm asking seriously.
I'd rather be a free person who fears terrorists, than be a "safe" person who fears the government.

Re: Rap/hip-hop
Well... there is the Andrew Sister and Eduard Khiel that set the standards.
Everybody coming close to them are good and the rest is....hip-hop
Trollolollotrollolooooo!
I am not sure how Pink Floyd fits in ...and they are good...strange
I guess If you can listen to something in the 70ies 80ies 90'ies 2000 -> and still like it; then it is good!
Having something to say is also good. Often criticizing established powers in an elegant way that make people understand the absurdity of things is a fine art.
Bod Dylan has something to say...and says it well too..
...and then we have the Andrew sisters

If people has liked it for centuries it has to be good (by a majority standard) - Like Puccini
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6DpMiT7uCE
And then you have Grieg, Mozart, Beethoven, Wagner, Bach, Sex Pistols, Verdi, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Kaizers Orchestra, Hot Club de Norvege, Gypsy music (Django Reinhardt - the original European Jazz) +++
I guess it comes down to what you like after all.

Re: Rap/hip-hop
But let's say I have a rap album in front of me. How do I tell the diff between song 1 and song 2?
I'm trying to understand people who listen to it. They say, "Oh, I love that song!" I'm like, "You sure it's THAT song? How do you know?" There is zero difference.

Re: Rap/hip-hop
Here is some interesting.... watch this, not only funny but interesting.
https://youtu.be/5pidokakU4I
Apparently most famous and top hits, can be played with the same 4 Chords.
http://truefire.com/blog/guitar-lessons ... -4-chords/
So... if you keep the similar beat and dress it up a bit with different lyrics, you can make a boat load of songs. Specialy when you do sampling. I think is no more than 7 Seconds before you need to pay for Royalties. Is very common to sample familiar beats and fuse them with some else; instant hits. Also... if they are used on Sports is even better.
Rap, to me, is crap music.

They might have something to say - a so called message - but it is impossible to hear it.....
A heard a funny rap in Norway from a rich kid complaining that he had nothing to rap about because he was born on the rich West side and had nothing traumatic to rap about.
The whole rap was about the problem of being born in the wrong successful hood and coming from a furnished home.
Rap, to me, is crap music.
Time for you to come out of the closet then...admit it you are a Dolly Parton fan

Re: Rap/hip-hop
Yo man!
I cannot tell one hip hop "song" from another either.
I guess I am always listening for something....interesting or something that makes me discover that my feet are moving...
