Re: Fedora 38

I hate UEFI too; however, this particular laptop runs like total crap without it. I also didn't want the hassle of turning it off, and all that, so left the system as-is. It doesn't matter now; I got it going with grub in the end, and set up a root password from there. No need (or, unfortunately, ti...

Re: Shoulder surgery

It's becoming much the same here, Blackie. By the time I get taxes and benefits taken out of my paychecks, I only actually receive half of my check. It's why I'm debating retirement. I figure if they're going to take half my check anyway, I'd probably end up making more if I retire and work part-tim...

Re: Do not click on this thread!

No clue. I figured it was at least spam, and clicked it up to report it. I couldn't even do that.

Fedora 38

Well, it needs work. On installation, there are several things that aren't happening, that should be, IMHO. First of all, if you install with UEFI, it doesn't set up grub . You also don't get opportunity to set up a root password. There's other things like that, that are weird that they weren't incl...

Re: Fedora has become a bit weird. Topic is solved

Never mind. It is precisely because I installed Fedora with UEFI on.
So, I ran:

Code: Select all

grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg

And now I have grub on boot. All's well that ends well.

It does beg the question though, why it didn't set up on Fedora installation.

An RIP today.

The creator of Vim, Bram Moolenaar, has died. A sad loss, Vim of course, being very important to the Linux community.

Fedora has become a bit weird. Topic is solved

For one, grub is installed, yet my computer just boots straight to login. I want the choice on grub to choose which way I want to login. What sort of troubleshooting do I need to post here for you to see what's going on? [dedanna1029@fedora Downloads]$ sudo dnf install grub2 Last metadata expiration...

Re: Shoulder surgery

Yes.
I ended up having to go back to the job. I figured I only have a year or so to retirement, so I'm just going to suck it up.

Do not click on this thread!

As soon as I clicked on the thread, Opera popped up with a "Deceptive site ahead" page, and wouldn't let me access the thread (thankfully). Moderators, please remove it. Thanks.
