Re: Replacing vi with nano - permanently

I always add it to /root/.bashrc as well as ~/.bashrc since I have some cron jobs that need to run as root. Doing so also means that visudo uses nano, rather than vi.

I also always add to both:

Code: Select all

export VISUAL=nano
To be quite honest, I've forgotten why I do the latter. :?:

Re: Clam Anti Virus

That is a good thing - I thought the "activation" and update of the database was a license thing since it is hard to imagine why else they would actively disable a working configuration Yes. Mageia gives this warning: clamav-0.95+ bundles support for RAR v3 in "libclamav" withou...

Re: Clam Anti Virus

In Mageia, clamav, freshclam and clamtk all work "out of the box". No further configuration is needed. This is how it was for years in Mandriva. Other "user-friendly" distros may do something similar.

It seems it's your fault after all. :berserkf Rugyada has posted. @viking60 See here http://forums.openmandriva.org/en/discussion/399/problem-updating-avatar PS> As a forum admin you should know the common practice to split offtopic comments into another proper discussion in a more proper place :) (...

Re: Censorship in the OpenMandriva forums?

I recall reading that exchange and so can vouch for the fact that the posts did exist at one time. Whether their going "missing in action" is due to cock-up or conspiracy is anyone's guess. Incidentally I get the same "no permission" page if I try to access signature settings in ...

Re: Mageia is using Debian servers and OM is British?

Most of Mageia's servers are in Marseille. They also have some "cloud" capacity.

OpenMandriva's servers are in Zurich and Paris.

Re: OpenMandriva releases beta Topic is solved

A Release Plan has been published:
http://wiki.openmandriva.org/en/2013.0_release_plan

The release manager has expressed some concerns about the tightness of this schedule (he was not present at the meeting which adopted it) and so it may be changed.

Re: OpenMandriva releases beta Topic is solved

I used the torrent to get the iso and installed it. The next day they announced that the wrong iso had been torrented. The release process has been a bit chaotic, with multiple versions of the iso floating around. There does not seem to be an effective release manager. I'll wait for the next iterati...

Re: Small war between Arch and Manjaro

It would seem that the Arch "family" is every bit as dysfunctional as the Mandriva "family". :confused

Why can't people be polite to one another?

Re: What is your inxi -w? (saving the world)

As I described in another thread, "inxi -w" doesn't find my true location - it's only off by about 400 miles :lolup However, this is close to my actual weather: Weather: Conditions: 48 F (9 C) - Scattered Clouds Wind: From the North at 9 MPH Humidity: 62% Pressure: 30.36 in (1028 mb) Time:...

Re: Status Mandriva

Cooker has been forked and there are now "2013" repo's: http://downloads.openmandriva.org/mirrors/ I believe that the focus of development is supposed to be on 2013. A beta of 2013 is due, but the date has slipped several times. I don't think that a new due date has been announced. I have ...
