Things go better with Coke.

:) The more seasoned Berserks might recognize that slogan from about a half century ago. India and Pakistan do not like each other. Ever since their split in 1947, the two countries have had a relationship that is angry at it's best, and deadly at it's worst. Pretty much any small glimmer of coopera...

Re: American ISP's are hated more than airlines

Yes, well, there is not so much competition for consumers to leverage and suspicions of or actual collusion reduces that even further. There is some example of this and a suggestion that whoever is on "top" of the isp popularity list might be more a function of how the poll is conducted: V...

Re: OpenMandriva

these people behind this joke of an association No one person was ever going to do it alone. You have done as much as one person can do to sabotage the hard work of others but I say, again, that work was necessary, is necessary, and is deserving of more respect than is forthcoming from the ignorant...

It just works: Dell XPS 13 Developer Edition Linux Ultrabook

Re: The MS-laptop may be dead but the Linux laps are thrivin

Reading further, it looks like google is smart enough to install such productivity apps as google docs to the chromebook, for offline work, still a little fuzzy about how the offline docs are stored. I guess you would use usb local storage, hard-drive, key, or flash card on even the $200 Acer. Coul...

Re: The MS-laptop may be dead but the Linux laps are thrivin

A little more reading and it seems like Google Docs/Drive is what is used for word processing, naturally, and there is a Google Cloud Connect plugin that installs to Microsoft Office, so the Google Drive document can be imported to MS Office, iianm. So, here is my first google doc :A https://docs.go...

Re: The MS-laptop may be dead but the Linux laps are thrivin

Little brother asked for recommendations about a laptop but I don't do laptops. His needs are simple, "email, some word processing,..." and I imagine he will be doing some interaction with his work contacts as the County Building Official, where mention of Linux elicits some respectful adm...

Re: Setting up Openbox on Macdriva, OM, Moondrake...

:B Very impressive howto, as usual. I have a question:

Code: Select all

sudo nano .config/openbox/autostart

The relative path, .config/openbox/autostart, makes it look like you are editing the config file in your home directory. If so, why is root needed (sudo)?

Re: OpenMandriva

All that said, what happened to putting all time and effort into getting a distro out? Complaining about how a logo was selected isn't helping accomplish that! +1 Exactly. I trust these people as I've watched every step of the way how they have handled the process. The process has flaws and takes t...

Re: OpenMandriva

So the winner and the runner up seem to have been ignored - can anyone explain this?

They took your advice. They flipped a coin.
