Re: https security information

The solution to transparent SSL/TLS interception is TLSA. It is a pain to setup, and is rarely validated, but it works just fine.

Just sayin'.

Actually... I did, and I did not find a way to buy the things I need with bitcoins. But thanks for the smartass remarks anyways.

Re: We have distributed computing. How about decentralisatio

Feel free to point me to a place where I can buy the items on my list above with bitcoins. Being able to buy web hosting services and illegal online television with bitcoins is essentially worthless to me. The point is not that you can't buy anything with bitcoins, but that you can't buy EVERYTHING ...

Re: We have distributed computing. How about decentralisatio

You can trade 1 Bitcoin into $320. You can do it here . So Bitcoin may not be usable everywhere but you can trade them to real dineros. Exactly, just like cheeseburgers... If I have cheeseburgers I can trade them for US dollars in stores all over the US. If I have bitcoins I can trade them for US d...

Re: We have distributed computing. How about decentralisatio

I should also add however, that some of the maidsafe web site seems to elude to a sub-network that uses the Internet for transport, uses crypto keys to ID individuals, is entirely encrypted to endpoints, and provides some level of anonymity when using publicly available services. THAT I can get behi...

Re: We have distributed computing. How about decentralisatio

It always looks like that to me too. But the Bitcoins seem to be around and have a value. I would agree that bitcoins are around, and that they seem to have "value"... but I would not say they are currency. McDonald's has cheeseburgers, they trade them for money all the time (in all kinds...

Re: Post Your Public Keys

Damn... I copied this new key to my clipboard (using the "select all" link) and tried to import it, but I got an error message telling me there was no key on the clipboard. Turns out phpbb pads code blocks with four spaces at the beginning of each non-blank line. If anyone has trouble impo...

Re: Distributed Computing

SETI@Home is another one btw. I ran the SETI@Home client for a long time, I gave up when they switched to BOINC. The BOINC client is more of a resource hog than the original SETI client and the SETI user stats became much harder to sort through once they switched. Unfortunately it looks like a lot ...

Re: (Windows) What will play an iso video file? Topic is solved

Snork, first you say: I am able to open an ISO of a DVD movie with VLC v1.1.11 on Windows Then I respond with my version on Windows, then you say: I am surprised that even VLC opens ISO files Which is it? Can you play them or not? As I said, in Linux VLC has opened them for years. Those two stateme...

Re: (Windows) What will play an iso video file? Topic is solved

I saw the original post, but it doesn't actually say why it doesn't work, or where it fails. I am surprised that even VLC opens ISO files, and am skeptical that anything else does.
