Re: Raspberry pi - setting it up

Try to perform a System update now. If that doesn't work, create a file called 99-input.rules under /etc/udev/rules.d. paste the following content into that file: KERNEL=="mice", NAME="input/%k", MODE="664", GROUP="input" KERNEL=="mouse*", NAME=&quo...

Re: Installed Steam -what now?

Steam is just a portal where you can buy games and run them from within steam.
The good thing about them hating windows is that it's the biggest platform of sales for the computer gaming industry. if they try to focus on linux, other game developers might aswell.

Re: Raspberry pi - setting it up

yes, i would test everything manually first. i probably have the same setup as you, but i start everything manually.
At least in my case everything works well. boot up the RPI login, write LXDM and login with your user, if this works there's something wrong with you automation scripts

Re: Raspberry pi - setting it up

I haven't set up automatic boot for LXDE, but you should run LXDM rather than LXDE. that way you are able to log in.

Re: SteamOS

Yeah, but i have one copy for the PS3 at the moment, and one for the PC.
It's been a while since i bought PS3 games though, as i don't play that much from the couch anymore. Only when having guests really, and even then i sometimes cram them into my room to play PC games :D

Re: SteamOS

FYI, Boss and b1o, http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2424849,00.asp Yeah, i read that aswell. Sadly i have never played a PC game in the living room, so i don't qualify as beta tester. I'm a pc gamer, give me a mouse and keyboard and 24 inch screen and i'm happy. Sofa gaming i have PS3 for. If s...

Re: Nvidia seeks peace with Linux

I read this aswell, maybe it will get even better on the linux platform from now on :) Nvidia is already the best GPU for linux, thanks to their closed drivers. AMD/ATI sucks thanks to crappy drivers, intel has no power but offers open source drivers (doesn't help when the hardware is crap) It sucks...

Re: software engineering Topic is solved

Software Engineering will possibly lead you in the direction of MIS (Management Information System), and the process of developing software from an idea to a fully functional "completed" system. Computer Science will lead you the IT route (More math if thats your thing) where you might rab...

SteamOS

I didn't know where to put this one, gaming or distro talk.. but here we are, Valve is developing an OS, or rather a Linux distro. As Valve is a huge gaming company, we might see some development on the Graphics drivers for Linux, hopefully open to other distros as well, without needing some closed ...
