well, I've not been active here for a while due to various reasons, but I thought I'd come back with a semi-bang.

Re: Linux likes IE8? What???!!!
I cannot stand IE. It's a terrible browser, and I feel sorry for the business people who are still stuck using IE6! IE never works in the sites that claim to 'work best' in IE, and crashes all the time. Their tab system is the worst of the all the browsers. I work at a web design firm, and we are al...

Re: PC-BSD
I've had similar problems with PC-BSD viking. I've had it install perfectly with vbox, but for some reason that same dvd hangs when I try it in live mode on my new laptop, as well as the older laptop that it was first installed under a virtual machine. I really wanted it to work as I wanted to test ...

Re: Open SUSE
I highly recommend you try Chakra. I've really really enjoyed my usage of it, and I really like where they are taking it.

Re: Hobbies you have (not computer ones)?
well, I enjoy eating good food. That's gotta be a hobby right? :P My main hobby aside from tinkering with computers would be playing the tabletop strategy game of warhammer 40k. Basically, I build, paint, and then play my armies against other people who do the same using dice. Its a lot of fun. Thei...

Re: Mandriva
Mandriva was the first distro I stuck with long term and got me really involved in Linux. For about a year after 2008.1, I was still using that as a benchmark because it was simply that amazing! But, for various reasons I stopped using it and became a distro hopper. Heck, I still use that 2008.1 pp ...

Re: Fedora!
Fedora is awesome, I love this distro! Used Fedora 11 for a while, and looooved Fedora 12. I've been playing with the idea of Fedora 12 KDE. Yum sometimes is a tad slow compared to apt-get, but Fedora was really the distro that helped me get used to the terminal for stuff other than the simple menia...

Re: Ubuntu
Ah, Ubuntu. I have a like/hate relationship with this distro. I've played with it since 7.10, and have used the 10.04 alpha twice. Once, as the main OS on my Toshiba laptop. It was buggy until the update and then it was actually pretty darn good. Had some minor hiccups, but I would just run an updat...

Re: Puppy Linux
I've thought of giving it a shot myself. I've given it a run on a livecd and it was pretty fast, but it did feel outdated. Could be that I'm used to having all the shiny features from the major players that I had high expectations?
