Re: What does your desktop look like?
New month and time to show of my desktop again. This time I have added Cairo Dock to my Gnome3-shell.
It is possible to put applets on the desktop with cairo and that square to the upper right animates my photo/pic. directory.

As you can see I am still using guake as drop down terminal - I am addicted to it. And I still use the background animation script.

The March addition of my desktop in Arch kernel 3.2.11-1 and KDE 4.8.2

And a small competition
Did I implement elements from bjoernvold.com there?
If so where?

Re: What does your desktop look like?
Until I can find a proper and real distro to install to the netbook that will work, I've reinstalled Mint, with Gnome 3. I did some hunting around for the things that I needed extension-wise. The last times that I installed Gnome 3, I went with every Gnome 3 extension in the book, in the hopes that Gnome 3 would come close to something functional for me. It never really worked. One extension would conflict with another, and on and on, some wouldn't work at all, some I just plain didn't like. This time, I hunted around for things that would give me what I needed, and nothing more.
So, this is fully non-MGSE. Fully. It got to be too much, like Firefox, wherein one has the compulsion to install every extension in the book, for things that a browser should include in the first place. All I have here, is the Gnome 2 compatibility Applications menu, the Extended Places Menu, the Gnome Shell Reflection Extension, and that's it, on the Mint-Z-Mate gtk theme, with Gnome-wise icons and Esco window borders (decoration, whatever):

The Extended Places Menu:

The Applications Menu:

Keepin' it simple this time 'round. Maybe someday I'll get 'round to a background and some such. Now, if Mint would just give me back my scrollbar arrows, I'd be much obliged.
