Looks like Mandriva is in trouble then Even with only three people left they manage to start a fight :mandriva:
I think Proyvind is showing his diplomatic skills to show that the Company cannot dictate the community etc. But that is a rather academic discussion at the moment - I would like to have something to fight over first....

In general it was agreed upon that the ones that contributed the most should have the biggest say - so I guess proyvind is trying to make a point to that effect :confused

It all doesn't inspire much confidence in me. Wobo and Per seem to be fighting Charles but he's the go-between for what can be provided by Mandriva. Raphaël Jadot is making sense. Mageia has managed to make a split but I don't see how Per can do it by himself.

Well If Wobo and Per are friends these days it is only a matter of time before they start to fight too.... :-D It is all in good Berserk tradition though, :berserkf and it does not matter who gets killed because the parties in Valhalla are great! +1

OpenSuse or Arch anyone ?

Well I did an update on Mandriva today and both Gnome and KDE do work.
Background image and startup (plymouth) image are not working but that is not all to important.

I get error messages regarding Dbus, autofs and Ipv6. When I check out dbus, the daemon seems to be loaded though:

Code: Select all

[thomas@underdog ~]$ sudo systemctl status dbus.service
dbus.service  D-Bus System Message Bus
          Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/dbus.service; static)
Active: active (running) since Mon, 2012-12-03 11:36:37 CET; 5min ago

There is a lot more info to it but, it fubars the database so here is a snapshot

I've had issues before with dbus. What I do, is:

Code: Select all

rm -rf ~/.dbus

Log out, then log back in. Don't know if that would help here, because i'm seeing something that I can't see in its entirety on the screenie you posted:

Code: Select all

Dec 3 11:37:10 underdog.localdomain dbus-daemon [1124]: **Message: No device...

What's the rest of that line? It's almost like you're having a mount issue, but I can't see to tell for sure. Look further down... /proc/self/mount... There's a device issue there somewhere, I'm thinking, and possibly not dbus.

Thanks.

The device issue would be in Virtualbox then and I cannot see where the device problem should be. Everything does work - it might be the leftover of a bugfix. :confused

Mandrivauser.de - the German community are closing down and will terminate the Mandriva activity.
On the international Mandriva forum there are Announcements to the effect that the forum will move but no information whereto. There is the link to the Wiki but it holds no information to that effect.

The OpenMandriva Foundation as legal entity seems close to reality. Charles Schultz gives some news and olds in his blog.

The OpenMandriva community is moving on. The statutes of the “OpenMandriva Association” have been sent to the French authorities and the incorporation process has thus started. At the same time, preparations are ongoing to migrate both the actual development environment of the distribution and the entire community infrastructure. On top of this, the development environment is not just migrated to another server, it is being upgraded to ABF and Git...

I sure hope he said Focus (I heard Fu*k us). Half a million HW products sold in Brasil is impressive though  Mandriva class sounds good.
I have it here, but I call it x2go :-D
And I wonder who is testing their products? It has been a while since cooker was updated - so the activity in not there.

I am really confused about who is doing what where. Following the foundation mailing list, it looks like cooker is merging with ROSA, the video speaks of Mandriva desktop being developed in Brazil.... :confused

So, maybe OpenMandriva will be the community version of ROSA?

That is the strange thing. They pretend that it is a big thing to find a name etc.. Our Italian friends call themselves "Mandriva International Backports" and do only work with ROSA.
Since there is no Mandriva 2012 community edition and the ROSA guys are the ones developing it - I simply wonder what Mandriva SA is doing?
It looks like they are picking from ROSA and Mageia.
It looks it will be a ROSA community (in reality) Unity will go for the ROSA system too. ROSA is representing the stability while most people are tired of "French revolutions".

At least I have a hard time seeing what link there should be between Mandriva SA and this new community... Being "French" is not enough :naughty:
